Meet your Hip Preservation Team
Dr. Wuerz earned his Doctor of Medicine from Eberhard-Karls-University of Tuebingen in Germany, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Inselspital in Berne, Switzerland. He was chosen as the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) health policy fellow, and was awarded the traveling fellowship of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA)
Dr. Wuerz’s clinical interests lie in sports medicine and hip preservation with a focus on hip arthroscopy. He has assisted with the care of athletes in high school, college and professional sports, including the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and White Sox (MLB).
Hip Preservation Surgery
The hip is a ball and socket joint comprising of the femur (thigh bone) and the pelvic bone. The head of the femur (ball) articulates with a cavity (socket) called the acetabulum in the pelvic bone.
Hip Cartilage Restoration
Hip cartilage restoration is a surgical technique to repair damaged articular cartilage in the hip joint by stimulating new growth of cartilage or by transplanting cartilage into areas with defects in order to relieve pain and restore normal function to the hip.
